Today Patrick completed a sentence by sentence activity on the story entitled, Night Hunter and began a new story, Gold Miner. He demonstrated visualizing and verbalizing by responding to questions which addressed the main idea, a picture summary, and a word summary. He correctly answered higher order thinking questions. Patrick continued his FF program using Sky Gym, Space commander, and Hoop Nut. Patrick has shown improvement in these games. It can be tricky for Patrick to recall certain directions in Space Commander, especially when then they require following two steps. For example, they may ask him to touch the small, green circle (1 step), or they may say touch the small green circle and then touch the large yellow circle. We continue to try various strategies so that he can recall both steps. He sometimes repeats the directions aloud or moves the mouse to the first set of directions. This same situation occurs in the other games, as well. In Sky Gym Patrick is required to listen to certain sounds and choose the correct order of pitches. In Hoop Nut, he listens to one sound and then two different short sounds and must recall the matching sound. I will continue to monitor his progress and develop strategies to improve his recall skills. I enjoy seeing him succeed and will not let him reach frustration level.
