Patrick had a great day today! It was fun-packed with lots of holiday spirit! Patrick completed his native american headband in celebration of Thanksgiving. He used his keyboarding skills to type what he is grateful for. Patrick also participated in helping to make our Thanksgiving feast delicious! He used measuring cups and spoons to combine the proper ingredients for our cornbread. He listened to a couple of stories about the First Day of Thanksgiving and a story about a little native american girl, entitled The Legend of The Blue Bonnet. It is a retelling of the old Indian legend of how bluebonnets came to Texas. It relates the story of She-Who-is-Alone, an orphaned girl being raised by her tribe during a time of extreme drought and famine. She sacrificed something dear to her in order to bring harmony back to nature. Students shared things they have done in the past to bring someone else happiness. The feast was yummy and it was nice that everyone had a share in making it happen! It was great to see the students in their handmade headbands. We used their teepee crafts for the table centerpieces for all to see and the students were able to eat on their own placemats. It was such a sweet day, a true Thanksgiving celebration where everyone (students and teachers) gathered for a feast and shared what everyone was grateful for. I hope your family has a wonderful Thanksgiving! See you soon.
