Lesson Topic
Introduction to Ancient Peoples
Lesson Outline
Much of the session was devoted to introducing myself to Hunter, getting to know a little about him and his particular interests, and developing rapport and trust. We then segued to his background in the study of history. He said that he had most recently learned about the Age of Enlightenment. I advised that we were going to turn the clock back to much earlier days--to antiquity. We discussed the importance of archaeological research in learning about the past, including bygone civilizations, and he replied to one of my questions about types of evidence as follows: "drawings on the wall." We then watched a video on cave markings in ancient Egypt, which dovetailed nicely with Hunter's prior comment. A good start.
