Lesson Topic
Golden Age of Athens
Lesson Outline
Today's lesson addressed the Golden Age of Athens, over which Pericles presided--an era of accomplishment and beauty ended by Sparta's military victory over Athens. Hunter watched a video that contained a large amount of information, after which he was required to take notes. I did likewise, using the marker board, and we held a good discussion of the lesson's content while the note-taking occurred. Hunter showed attentiveness and focus until three minutes before the end of class, when he asked for and obtained permission to go to the reception desk on the condition that he return to class. He did not return before the end of the class period. I spoke to him about this when encountering him at the reception desk.

Lesson Comments
Hunter's stated reason for leaving class early was that he had a headache and wanted to get an Advil from Katlyn. I asked Katlyn if she gave him one. She said yes, and that she does this for other students when needed. I asked her if this was done with Judie's consent. She said yes. I am wondering if it is prudent to allow a JBP receptionist to dispense Advil to minors, much less this particular minor.
