Today we focused on the left and right brain and activities that are related to each hemisphere. Devon was working on a art/craft project, so I asked her to tell me which side of the brain was used for this activity. I also had her identify the senses she was using in her work. We discussed how some people are more dependent on one hemisphere of the brain and it was decided that She was a right brain person. We then progressed to an illustration of the brain showing where in the brain some attribute are associated. I showed Devon some video of people who had lost some function of specific parts of the brain; a man who had no short term memory, and young man who' s personality was changed by a head injury, and a woman who had a trauma in her brain and lost her ability to see. These were reminders on why it is important to wear helmets when bike riding, and a seatbelt while traveling in a car.
