Lesson Topic
Making and Interpreting Data Tables and Bar Graphs
Lesson Outline
Today Patrick and I reviewed how to tally information, read tally marks to determine numbers and make a graph using the information. Then Patrick interpreted different aspects of the graph to answer various questions. We also reviewed basic addition computation with flashcards outside. We had a lot of fun with this incorporating different moments to compliment the sum. For example with 10 + 7 we would jump 17 times.

Lesson Comments
Patrick is doing well with interpreting graphs, but has little interest in making them!!! I was very surprised to see how much Patrick struggled with the flashcards today. It was almost like the visual of the flashcards made it harder for him to compute. Seeing the numbers in the equation on the cards made it harder for him. We have practiced math facts on the basketball court daily for months and he has always done very well. I was very surprised. I am not sure if this could suggest a processing issue or further support the dyslexia diagnosis.
