Today's lesson addressed the progressive decline in relations between England and its colonies from 1763 to 1775. Topics included the popular discontent with British taxes and permanent installation of British troops in the colonies, the Boston Massacre, the Tea Act of 1773, the political involvement of both genders in the colonies (Daughters of Liberty as well as male politicians in colonial assemblies), the Boston Tea Party, colonial militias of "minutemen," the warning rides of Paul Revere and William Dawes, and the battles of Lexington and Concord in 1775. Will's participation in class discussion was active and substantial.
