We discussed several good writing tips: beginning sentences with subordinate phrases and ending with the independent clause with a strong adjective to add power; not ending a sentence with a preposition; using transitional sentences in the first and last sentences of a paragraph to provide transition; and proper structure of the five-paragraph essay.

Cal is very introverted, lacks self-confidence and exhibits a short attention span. Today he was quite melancholy. He was constantly looking down and all around the room. In fact, he left to go to the bathroom for ten minutes before returning. So, he will be a challenge. However, he appears bright with strong potential. Clearly, he was getting great instruction from Lauren.
