The girls and I read and analyzed "Everyday Use" by Alice Walker and discussed the rhetorical tools used to convey the main point of the story. We discussed character, setting, cultural heritage, and human perceptions. We discussed how to approach writing the literary analysis beginning with a concrete thesis that would be then followed up with supporting evidence from the story itself.
