Geometry
Lesson Outline
Today, Cal and I continued our work on geometry and understanding angles and polygons in geometry. We talked about how no matter what type of quadrilateral one has, the internal angle of the quadrilateral all will add up to 360 degrees. Similarly, I reiterated from last time how a triangle's internal angels add to 180 degrees. Also, I showed Cal how the internal angles in a pentagon all add up to 540 degrees. We worked through a number of problems related to congruent angle and complementary angles in intersecting lines and in quadrilaterals. Finally, we learned about the Pythagorean theorem for right triangles, and we discussed some of the history of the mathematician Pythagoras.
