Lesson Topic
Magic Tree House / The sounds of "y"
Lesson Outline
This morning we continued in our Magic Tree House book, chapter 7, "Ready, Set, Go!" We then worked on follow up comprehension questions, using complete sentences, proper punctuation, and handwriting techniques. We also discussed using verbs (action words) in making complete sentences. Gracyn then illustrated a picture of her favorite dinosaur that we've discussed for the cover of her packet. She chose a triceratops. We played a fun game called Cherry on Top in which we practiced using the three different sounds made by the letter y. Gracyn read the words and decided if she needed to put a y, i, or e cherry on top of the ice cream sundae based on the correct sound of how y is used in the word. Some of the words included: my, yes, cherry, baby, year, and fly.
