Gracyn used a hundreds chart to count on by either ones or tens to find a sum. She also used strategies such as make a ten, draw a picture, and add ones and tens to solve word problems. Finally, we reviewed the adding a number to nine trick. For the facts 9 + 1 through 9 + 9, you look at the number being added to 9, subtract 1 from that number, and place a 1 in front of it to find the sum.
