Lesson Topic
The Barefoot Mailman
Lesson Outline
We read a loud p.129-135 in the book. We are approaching the end of the story. Therefore, I spent some time going over the post reading assignment that involves writing. The last 15 minutes of class was devoted to analyzing and clarifying the nature of the assignment. Stephen also began to brainstorm and write down some ideas he can discuss. Stephen was somewhat unsure, but I stressed that writing involves a process and that even professional writers are challenged with the written word. I was able to give him one idea he could address and explained why it would be appropriate. Stephen was able to come up with an example of his own. He is on his way.

Lesson Comments
I have noticed that Stephen wants to procrastinate and not be in his room at the start of the session. I had to find him and have him follow me to class. I talked to Stephen about developing mutual respect and that he should have been on time, or found me prior to class to let me know that he was going to be late. I had him complete an in class assignment related to the story we are reading.
