Lesson Outline
Gwendolyn and I began our class today by reviewing. We read a news article from AP about the nuclear weapons currently being tested in North Korea. We continued in two textbooks, learning about the Cold War and the Civil Rights Movement. We also discussed the Korean War and the Vietnam War. We reviewed the policy of containment and the Truman Doctrine. We read about Brown vs. The Board of Education, discussing the concept of "separate but equal", Thurgood Marshall, segregation, The Civil Rights Act, and integration. We learned about the Civil Rights Movement with a BrainPop video. We also looked to a short video about the Vietnam War on History.com. We learned about Rosa Parks and Nixon. Finally, we began a new unit on modern news and events and watched a video about terrorism. Tomorrow we will discuss September 11th.
