Lesson Topic
Rights and Responsibilities
Lesson Outline
This morning we reviewed the topic of rights and responsibilities, which we covered briefly in the beginning of the year. We read our Florida Studies Weekly packet and watched the Brain Pop Jr. learning video on the topic. We learned that rights are freedoms that are protected such as speech, voting, press, different religious beliefs, being safe, and the right to learn. We learned that responsibilities are things we should do such as follow rules, be kind, help others, and give our best effort in learning. Additional vocabulary words today included: law (a rule), common good (helping all the people/ the overall community), and the Golden Rule (treat others the way you would like to be treated). We wrapped up the day with finding cardinal directions. Danny correctly found all four in his room and then he was able to ask me where all four are! This is a goal I was hoping to meet by the end of the school year! He has been able to identify them by name, but this time he could label them without my assistance! Hooray, Danny!
