Lesson Topic
Simplifying Radicals
Lesson Outline
I continued working with Hunter out of the Algebra 1 book (section 10-2). I showed him several examples of simplifying radicals that are being multiplied together, or are part of fractions. We cannot leave a radical sign in the denominator, so we must rationalize the denominator. I explained to him how to do that, and showed him examples. His assignment was p.623 (11-47 odd). He completed 11-27 odd, and I had to help him correct some of them. When Hunter works with me and I guide him, he does much better.

Lesson Comments
Hunter was slow moving today, as you noticed. He didn't really have a bad/negative attitude, but he was on the verge of sleep. Before we came out of his class to work in the lobby, he said "I have to stand up and move around or I am going to die." I joked with him that I was glad I could bring him close to death with my class. He told me that it wasn't me - it was just school. I think he is more than ready to be done with all of this!
