There was something wrong with the FLVS system so we had a Socratic discussion of social science starting with interactions of local people of different cultures and progressing through a discussion of manifest destiny (one of his FLVS topics), then talked about the Middle East and the cultural, religious, military, and economic issues people are dealing with in those countries and how outside players such as the US, Europe, China, Russia, etc. are involved.
