Lesson Topic
The ACLU and drug testing high school athletes.
Lesson Outline
There is a growing trend in the U.S. to randomly drug test high school athletes. We focused on what is happening to Girls' Volleyball Team players at high schools in Montana and Oregon. Some parents are enlisting the legal assistance of the ACLU to contest random drug testing. Elle learned about the ACLU, the first amendment and laws about illegal search and seizures. This is a very sad, but growing issue in our country happening to some really good high school kids.
