Types of solutions
Lesson Outline
Informed Samantha that the type of solution is based on the solvent. We will then discuss the most common solvents for compounding a solution and that the solution is named based on the solvent. They will be aqueous, alcoholic, tinctures, solid, and gaseous solutions. The degree of solubility of the solute will also determine the solvent needed. Solutions which are going to be applied externally will require solvents which are compatible with the ph of the skin and are hydrophyllic.

Lesson Comments
Samantha was not present for the class. I also will discuss with her the possibility of a course in the pharmacology of nervous system altering drugs. She discussed that she was very interested in that area. I will speak with her and outline to her that this will involve the anatomy and physiology of the nervous system. It will involve the anatomy and physiology neurons and especially the organ called the brain. It will be a fairly complex investigation of the brain, nervous system, normal and abnormal chemical effects as well as the chemistry of different classes of these compounds
