Today we learned that Black History month falls in February due to the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln on 2/12 and Frederick Douglas on 2/14. We focused on learning about Rosa Parks and how a simple act of unplanned courage gave rise to the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s. We then learned about Senator Corey Booker from NJ who has recently announced his candidacy for the 2020 presidential race.
