Unit Test - Reading Skills - Novel "El viaje de su vida"
Lesson Outline
Today Sam and I watched a video (warm-up) TED-Ed “The benefits of a bilingual brain” - Mia Nacamulli
It’s obvious that knowing more than one language can make certain things easier — like traveling or communicating with people in other countries. (watching movies without subtitles) But are there other advantages to having a bilingual (or multilingual) brain? Mia Nacamulli details the three types of bilingual brains and shows how knowing more than one language keeps your brain healthy, complex and actively engaged. Then we spoke and highlighted important facts about the video. Sam took Unit test (multiple choice). I reviewed her test. Sam corrected her wrong answers. I told Sam mistakes give you the opportunity to learn from them. So, it is a great opportunity to review and drill about the subject. (As Albert Einstein once said, “Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.”) We started (Reading log) reading the novel “El Viaje de su vida”. Sam was very excited and noticed her own progress (vocabulary). Sam was able to understand multiple words in Spanish and felt more confident about her reading skills (awesome improvement).
