Jason worked on a fun Thanksgiving dinner activity. We cut out pictures of items showing traditional dinner items and their cost. Then, Jason was given $25 and had to buy at least 6 items for his dinner. He determined what he wanted to serve, paid for each item, and glued the pictures onto a shopping bag.
Jason played baseball with other teachers and students today.
He actually hit a ball out to the playground.
He was involved in all facets of the game from pitching to fielding and also batting.
We played the game Payday. During this game Jason did a great job of reading over the deal cards and parts of the letters.
He did a good job of evaluating deals to see if he would want them. One of my favorite things about our session today was that Jason was very charitable. He would see that I needed a deal to make money in the game or needed something else and Jason would offer to help me.
It made the game quite enjoyable.

Lesson Comments
I substituted for Jason's basketball teacher for this session.
Jason and I focused on the phrase Gracias por ... today.
He had an amazing session today. He was focused. He engaged in the lesson and seemed to enjoy it.
He practiced saying Gracias and Gracias por ... a number of times. He then used Gracias por to help me generate a list of things for which he is grateful (his kitten, video games, and his family).
We used Gracias por ... to write brief thank you notes to 3 of his teachers here at the school (Senora Patti, Anna, and Suzanne) detailing things that they do together that he enjoys.
We then searched for images of his gratitude items online. He found adorable pictures of kittens, a fun picture of minecraft, and a picture of a family online. He used those images for a gratitude board wherein he put the pictures.
Jason completed his interactive calendar. He read and discussed his vocabulary words. He solved his daily sentence puzzle. He put together a parachute that he used to replicate the way a spiderling goes ballooning when it leaves the egg sac.
How Have Rights and Responsibilities Changed Over Time?
Lesson Outline
Jason and I read the passages "Some Things Change, and Some Things Stay the Same" and "Has Life Really Changed" on pages 38-39 in the Research Companion. I asked comprehension questions. He compared and contrasted the photographs of children doing chores long ago and today. We read the passage "Abraham Lincoln" on pages 40-41 in the Research Companion. I asked comprehension questions. He inferred Lincoln's character and responsibilities from the painting and photograph of him.
