During today's session, Brayden was introduced to Integers and the concept of negative numbers. We covered real world examples of positive and negative integers and he was shown the method of adding positive and negative integers. He has been excited about using the IXl Math program for additional practice and reinforcement of various problem solving methods that I provide him with.
Braden read, discussed and answered comprehension questions pertaining to today's story about sharks. He completed several activities using Wordly Wise vocabulary words.
Area of Triangles. Order of Operations. Formula and calculations of Area of various triangles. Isosceles, scalene and right triangles. Explanation/display of trapezoids and rhombus. Order of Operations (PEMDAS) review and practice examples.

During today's lesson on Area of Triangles and Order of Operations, Braden was very attentive and worked productively. I introduced him to the IXL Math 6th grade online program which will be very useful to him during his upcoming 6th Grade Math lessons at Jupiter Middle.
Braden completed a reading comprehension story and answered questions using critical thinking skills and an understanding of how the vocabulary words were used. He read and discussed chapter 1 of his literature book. “Brave.”
Geometry: area and Perimeter, Prime Factors: Area and perimeter of rectangles, real world examples.
Types of triangles : Isosceles, Equilateral, and scalene. Angles in triangles, right triangles.
