Kate Ketchum
I introduced Kate to Pop Artist Roy Lichtenstein who changed the world of art in the 1960s by taking the everyday comic strip and reimagining it as a fine art composition. Complete with Ben-Day dots to look like comic strip printing, bold colors, and graphic black outlines, Lichtenstein's art blurred the lines between low brow entertainment and fine art. I gave Kate choices of what cartoon she wanted to create using the grid drawing method. This project will cover art history, drawing, color theory, and design.
