As usual, I began the session with alphabetic awareness (sequencing, identifying vowels, and building known syllable types). I conducted visual, auditory, and blending drills with all letters, digraphs, and er, it, and ur. Cade then syllabicated two-syllable words with er, ir, and ur (Angling for Words, pg 93-96). For spelling review, I dictated er/ir/ur words (jerk, verb, girl, dirt, burn, hurt) and the following sentences: His sister hurt her hand in the fire. She said he was a jerk! We then went outside, playing two rounds of Crazy Moose to practice syllable types. To conclude, Cade read a decodable book from FlyLeaf Publishing, "Let's Get Fit!"
