Kellan's vocabulary is growing through his storytelling. He knows that I use his vocabulary for spelling words, so now he will point out a "good" word when he uses it in a story.
With Silly Putty and paint pens, Richard practiced words with ve ending. He took his spelling test and wrote sentences I dictated. He read books with words he can read.
First, we reviewed Sasha's spelling words. She knew 5/10. She made flashcards for the ones that she missed. Next, she read an oral reading fluency passage with oo and ou words (two times). We completed a related school worksheet. To conclude, Sasha read a chapter on Razz kids.
Today we discussed Parallelograms and their properties. We compared a paralellogram, square, and rectangle. I showed Andrew how all quadrilaterals have 4 sides, but these specifically had 2 sets of parallel sides. We discussed how their diagonals bisect each other but are not congruent. I showed Andrew how the consecutive angles are supplementary. Then we practiced some problems. Andrew did a problem where he first had to determine that the angles were congruent, then he set up an equation to solve. Next class we will compare and contrast different polygons.
