Carson had a Test today on Translations. He worked the whole period. When he was finished, we reviewed it together. He got two questions wrong for a 87%. We reviewed the problems. Carson had difficulty with one problem that was to be reflected over the line x=-2, but he instead reflected it over the y-axis. Another question asked Carson what line the figure was reflected over. He chose x=3 instead of x=2. He seemed to understand the reasons he got the problems wrong.
Yesterday Ben took a test in class. Today, we reviewed it together. He got a 100% on it. I was SO SO proud of Ben. He is showing how capable he is to do higher order thinking mathematics. Next, we decided to listen to a podcast explaining why you cannot divide by zero in mathematics. Ben has been asking me why it results in something undefined. I tried to explain it to him but I realized I wasn't doing a good job. He found a podcast on it. We listened and it really opened up a world of existentialism. It got pretty deep explaining that there is no difference in "Zero World". It was quite interesting.
JPaul had a Test today on Solving Literal Equations, Absolute Value Equations, and Quadratic Equations. JPaul worked the entire period. He stopped to ask me few clarifying questions. He got stuck on a few problems and was unable to finish. I encouraged him to review the quadratic formula (recall the Pop goes the weasle song) and lookover completing the square. He will finish the test tomorrow.
Kaitlin wrote her spelling words in sentences. She continued working on her article about Lewis Hamilton. I assisted by looking up additional information.
I offered Aiden to review one more day or take his test. He chose to take his test. He worked hard the whole period. He stopped to ask me a few clarifying questions. I was able to answer him without giving away the answer. He did not complete the test today during class, so he will finish tomorrow.
