Aiden worked on completing his MAP Testing today. I noticed the problems Aiden had were on Statistics and Probability. This is a chapter we will focus on after Spring Break. Aiden tried his best, but was kinda bummed he wasn't able to answer with confidence. I explained that the test covers the entire 7th grade math content so it's OK for Aiden to not be comfortable with some of the material. We will continue to collect his curiosities and address them on our next free class period.
Today PJ was scheduled for his MAP Testing. I could not believe the difficulty level of his questions. He had questions with imaginary numbers, trigonometry, and advanced geometry. I looked back at the 6th grade standards and NONE of that content is introduced in 6th grade. I thought perhaps we were in the wrong test. But I confirmed it was the right one. He tried his best. He will finish tomorrow.
Today, I substituted for Jackson for his Marine Biology class. Christy left directions to work on a Coral Reef PowerPoint. Jackson worked the entire period on his computer.
Today JPaul and I reviewed for a Test he will have on Thursday. We covered topics from solving linear and absolute value equations, solving literal equations, and solving quadratic equations. JPaul took the lead and worked through the problems as I watched. I only interjected when he had questions or difficulty. He did pretty well. Tomorrow we will finish the review together.
Andrew had a rough day. He was late to class (like usual). He sat down and saw I had the computers set up for MAP testing. I asked if he was ok, and he said not really. He stared at question 1 for at least 5 minutes and then finally clicked a choice. Then he asked to go to the restroom. He was gone for 14 minutes. When he came back, I asked him if he was ok. He said No. He said he's upset because there is another student that is coming to the school that he extremely dislikes. He told me some very concerning behaviors of this student. He could not focus and was very upset that this student may come to our school. He only completed one question in the 45 minute period.
