Today Carson and I continued in solving systems of equations. This time we worked on word problems. Carson read the problem, then was required to create an equation that models the situation. For example, there are 6 vans and 13 buses holding 612 students for a filed trip. Carson wrote 6v+13b=612. He set up two equations and then had to choose between substitution, elimination, or graphing. He chose elimination (I would have too). After some practice problems, we reviewed what we have learned so far from the Solving systems unit. Carson will most likely have a quiz on Friday and a test on Tuesday.
Kaitlin wrote her spelling words in her journal and highlighted letters to remember. She wrote a paragraph about the setting of Barbados. We read The Witch of Blackbird Pond and discussed it.
Christopher wrote his spelling words in his journal and highlighted letters to remember. We read about Temple Grandin and discussed the book. He wrote a paragraph about the setting and its importance to Temple.
Using magnetic letters, Richard practiced his spelling words and two-syllable words that end with y. We played Roll and Read with CVVC words. Richard read books with words he can read.
S: Noah was seen at the Batt School for treatment. Noah had some initial difficulty with transitioning into session, but he was eager to work with SLP for the duration of treatment. O: Noah was asked to follow a variety of 1-step related directions. He completed the activity with 83% accuracy. He was also asked to follow a variety of 2-step related directions, which he completed with 70% accuracy. Noah was then asked to answer mixed “wh” questions about a story read aloud to him given a field of 2 visual answer choices. He completed the activity with 87% accuracy. Noah then completed a quantitative concepts activity in which he discriminated many versus few in a field of 2 visual answer choices. He completed the activity with 80% accuracy. Lastly, Noah was asked to identify spatial concepts in a field of 3 answer choices. He completed the activity with 80% accuracy. A: Increases/stability displayed across POC goals. P: Continue with current POC with plans to discontinue goals at mastery. Probe additional goals to replace discontinued goals when necessary.
