Today we worked on drafting an essay on social justice as exemplified by the novella, A Christmas Carol. I distributed a guide on drafting a three paragraph essay on this subject that addressed how to prepare a topic sentence, cite examples, and a conclusion. I first helped David prepare an introduction paragraph that introduced the topic and the characters. We then worked on a body paragraph citing examples of how thorough Scrooge's redemption the novella advocates for a society that both recognizes the plight of the poor and does something about it. As needed ,we rewrote sentences , combined ideas , and reorganized sentences within the paragraph. We will complete the essay tomorrow in class.
