For our last Chapter of the year PJ and I will be focusing on Statistics. Today we introduced the concept, ways to organize data, and deciding if given scenarios are statistical or not. I showed PJ examples of a bar graph and dot plot and I had him explain to me what the data meant. He did a great job interpreting them. Next I gave him a data set and asked him to draw a dot plot with it. Lastly, I gave PJ multiple scenarios and asked him if these could be statistical data or not. This was a good introduction for him.
Today was our first day with NO agenda! I asked Josh if he wanted to just chat and take a break or if he wanted to learn a little bit of calculus. He opted for both! We discussed the concept of continuity and what makes a function continuous. He already had understanding of when functions are undefined, so we used that to introduce limits. We used limit notation to define continuity. We had fun coming up with a piece wise function to model the situation.
