We first addressed the novel's next big plot surprise: Magwitch, the convict, is actually Estella's father. We noted the irony . Estella projects herself as the epitome of upper class society .Yet, she would be spurned violently if people knew her true lineage . We further discussed the symbolism of PIp's physical wound and healing as he develops values . In this regard, we studied the text and focused on Pip;s selflessness and compassion as he readily forgives Miss Havisham and asks nothing for himself. Likewise, we studied the textual passage wherein Miss Havisham pleads for forgiveness and exhibits deep remorse as she has led a life consumed with hatred and revenge. We discussed how the motif of remorse and guilt has appeared throughout the novel.
We continued reviewing Drew's essay on a "special place', for him the Smokey Mountains . I provided instruction on maintaining a single subject in each paragraph by discussing where and how to transpose sentences to maintain this consistency. We then worked on drafting a conclusion that does more than reiterate the first paragraph or the prior points. Next, we moved on to Drew's literary essay. I addressed the standard elements of a first paragraph ,including introducing the characters and the setting. Drew's essay did a good job with character introductions but lacked setting context that would be relevant to the topic of bravery. We worked on adding an historical setting context to the first paragraph which we completed.

I began by generally outlining the most common methods of post death property disposition - testamentary wills and trusts. I also provided the definition of will and decedent.
During our first segment we worked on placing vocabulary words in a sentence that recognizes not only the definition but the connotation of the word . Aiden does well with strict definitions but continues to need assistance on proper usage which we will continue to address. We then studied the next chapter in our non -fiction book . We explored how the reader's frustrations with the Townsend family are not shared by the author who learns two lessons about life at Cross Creek: first, people can and will repay her generosity if and when they can often by simply doing favors or labor; second , the Townsends are actually happier than most. They appear irresponsible but the author recognizes how this rural impoverished family embodies the value of living for the day.

Discuss the biochemical and biological aspects of proteins. Discuss how proteins are classed as chemical catalysts. Discuss how catalysts work by chemically and physically binding to substrate molecules. Show digestive enzymes as an example. Indicate how hydrolysis of starch will occur when placed in solution and left for 48 hrs, but that in the presence of specific enzymes, the hydrolysis will occur in a few hours. Show how the substrate and the enzyme "fit" into each other and increase the hydrolysis reaction. Discuss also how proteins work as communicators, like insulin and growth hormone. Discuss the importance of proteins in the proper development of cells, hair, nails and bone.
