Topic 9 Solving Quadratic Equations
Lesson Outline
9-5 Completing the Square – We learned to complete the square by adding the square of half of the coefficient of the x to each side of the equation. Then we solved quadratic trinomials by completing the Square to transform a quadratic equation into a perfect square trinomial. Then we used completing the Square to write a quadratic equation in Vertex form.

Topic 9 Solving Quadratic Equations
Lesson Outline
9-2 Solving Quadratic Equations by Factoring – We learned that in the standard form of a quadratic equation the factors of the equation determine the solutions. Then we learned the Zero-Product Property and factoring to find the solutions of a quadratic equation. Next we learned to apply factoring to solve real-world problems. Then we used the zeros of a quadratic equation to sketch a graph. Next we learned to write the factored form of a quadratic function from the graph.

Topic 9 Solving Quadratic Equations
Lesson Outline
9-1 Solving Quadratic Equations Using Graphs and Tables – We learned to use a graph to identify the x-intercepts as solutions of a quadratic equation. Then we learned that a quadratic equation can have zero, one, or two real solutions. If the graph of the function has no x-intercepts then the equation has no real solutions. If the graph touches the x-axis but does not cross it then there is only one x-intercept and one real solution.
