Topic 4 Systems of Linear Equations and Inequalities
Lesson Outline
4-4 Linear Inequalities in Two Variables – We learned that the graph of a linear inequality in two variables shows the solutions of the inequality as a half-plane above or below the boundary line. Then we learned that the boundary line is included in the solution when the inequality symbol is less than or equal to or greater than or equal to. The boundary line in an inequality is excluded when the inequality symbol is less than or greater than.

Lesson Outline
4-3 solving Systems of Equations by Elimination – We practiced solving systems of linear equations by elimination and proving that the sum of one equation and a multiple of the other produces a system with the same solutions as the original system. Then we practiced representing constraints with a system of equations in a modeling context.

Topic 4 Systems of Linear Equations and Inequalities
Lesson Outline
First we went over how to set up and solve equations for word problems that required 2 equations and 2 unknowns. This helped Bella understand the importance of mastering this concept.
4-3 solving Systems of Equations by Elimination – We learned that elimination is an alternate method for solving systems of equations when it is not easy to use substitution. We multiplied one or both equations by a constant to get like coefficients that are opposite integers to use elimination.
