After 2 hours of testing we did complete the lesson on the substitution method. David has a good understanding of solving a system of equations.
7-5 Factoring – We completed several factoring trinomial problems to understand when to use negative and positive constant values. Then we completed word problems requiring the use of factored quadratics.
Assignment: Complete the rest of the problems for homework on page 292 #’s 26-35.
Lesson 7-5 Factoring – We learned that when a trinomial is in the form x2 + bx + c, the factors are found by identifying a pair of integer factors of c that have a sum of b and then using the factors to write binomials that have a product equal to the trinomial.
Assignment: Complete the assigned problems for homework.
We will review the topics of order of operations, evaluating expressions, determining if a given number solves an equation, and writing an expression for a word statement.

Cam did very well today. He has a good understanding of these basic concepts. He was very cooperative and ready to do some algebra.
7-4 Factoring Polynomials – We learned to use the structure of a polynomial to rewrite it in factored form. Next, we factored polynomials that represented real-world problems.
Assignment: Complete the assigned problems for homework.
7-4 Factoring Polynomials – We learned that the greatest common factor of the terms of a polynomial is the greatest common factor of the coefficients and the variable or variables, using the number of instances of the variable that are common to each term.
Assignment: Complete the assigned problems for homework.
We will solve systems of two equation with two unknowns using a variety of methods. Today we will focus on the substitution method and the row reduction method of a matrix. We will do examples and discuss why we use the methods that we use.
