He seems to comprehend this organic unit better than any of the others, he is able to name compounds quite easily once the rules are set down.
Solving for angles using inverse trig functions. Rowan needs to get a scientific calculator from any CVS, Walgreens, Walmart etc, so that he can work out these functions. It is about $10.
Using models, have Rowan construct a butane molecule. On the board, expand the alkane series to the last 5 chains and add them to his list of the first 5. Impress that he will try to memorize, by using, the prefix names of the first 10 alkanes, and that they all end in ane. Take heptane as an example and write the molecular formula, the structural formula, the condensed structural formula and have Rowan determine how to condense the condensed.

I need to constantly focus him on the question asked, and try to direct him to the correct starting point. He has a tendency to just respond with the first thing which comes to mind, but once directed, he is capable of completing the given work
