Rowan worked through the nomenclature and was aware of tnt and Listerine, which contained phenol.
sketched the structural formula of benzene and discussed some of the common uses for benzene, and how it seerves as the basis for most drug and cosmetic products. Rowan worked on numbering the carbons, based on previous learning and then naming some substitution products using the numbering system and the base benzene. Rowan is quite capable of naming the compounds.
I subbed for Jackie today and had Rowan do the problems she left behind. He seemed to have very little trouble with the work and got it done pretty quickly.
I had Rowan for my class and subbed for Dan's class for an extra half hour. We started watching Braveheart, which is a great movie about overcoming challenges and one we've talked about for a while now. I thought this was a perfect time for Rowan to finally see it.
Rowan did a fantastic job on the last vocab quiz of the year. He scored a perfect 100% and had very little trouble staying focused while he was taking it. Great Job!
