Today we reviewed residual plots and the effect of influential point on the regression line equation. We also reviewed the meaning of the R^2 value and the correlation coefficient r. We differentiated between the two, and worked on developing the ability to write out the analysis in complete sentences using the language of the discipline.

Emma asked me today what grade I gave her for the first quarter. I told her an 'A' and she asked if I would give her an 'A' next time. I explained that in the beginning of the quarter, her diligent efforts were evident in the quality of her completed homework assignments, but lately, not so much. I explained that if she continued in this way, she would most likely receive a 'B'. She was a little too pushy at that point, saying that she wouldn't let me giver her a 'B'. I said simply that I would if necessary.
