Kelly has put a lot of effort into preparing for the test. She did a very good job of learning Algebra equations and geometry and now just needs to practice before the test. She needs to focus on vocabulary cards, and do at least two practice tests from every section.
Kelly is a bit behind in math. She's just learning percentages in school, so a lot of this material is new to her. Once we went through it, she seemed to pick it up, but she needs to practice between now and the test. We scheduled an extra appointment to go over basic algebraic equations and geometry.

Kelly had mid-terms this week and was unable to complete all of the practice tests. But she did very well on the reading section and solidly on the first math. She definitely needs to focus on her vocab cards between now and the test. She also needs to practice the math as much as possible. During our review there are definitely some areas she has trouble with. I recommend that we meet at least three times during the first week of January to make sure she is ready for the test.
Kelly came in prepared and ready to work. She completed all of her vocab cards and had done all the practice drills I assigned her. She wrote three 5 paragraph essays and improved on each one. We went over one the the essays in detail, and discussed the formula she wants to follow and how to fully develop her ideas. Kelly seems comfortable and confident.
I was very encouraged by today's class with Kelly. She seems committed to doing well in the test and prepared to do the work necessary. Her biggest concerns are the writing and the math. After going over the basic formula for a 5 paragraph essay, I had her do a timed writing exercise. I was very pleased with her effort and her results were not far off from where she needs to be. She seems comfortable with the work required to prepare for the test and eager to succeed.
She is preparing to take the SSAT to get into a boarding school. We started by taking a test together, and going over the concepts she either did not know or forgot. There are two types of the test, and upper level and a lower level. I am not positive (nor was she) of which she needs to take.
