Lesson Topic
Unit 3 Earth’s Changing Landscape
Lesson Outline
We worked on adding descriptions of weathering, erosion, and deposition to our work science notebook. Then we worked on finding examples to add to our notes.

Linear Functions
Lesson Outline
We worked on learning the formula for finding the slope of a line. Then we completed a few problems where we needed to find the slope or steepness of a line from 2 points. PJ wanted to plot the line to find the rise over the run. We practiced using both methods to find the slope.

Unit 3 Earth’s Changing Landscape
Lesson Outline
We observed changes to different materials when they are heated or cooled. We recorded the temperature of water and clay. Then we heated each for 1 minute in the microwave and recorded the temperature. We observed the properties with the temperature increase. We concluded that these changes are reversible.

Unit 2 Module 3 Electromagnetic Forces
Lesson Outline
Lesson 4 Electromagnetism – We learned that the strength of a magnetic field is proportional to the current in the wire. We can double the current in a wire by doubling the voltage of the source of electricity. We discovered that when we wrap a coil around an iron core the strength of the electromagnetic field is much greater than the same coil without the iron core. This is due to the atoms in the iron lining up to amplify the magnetic effect.

Unit 2 Module 3 Electromagnetic Forces
Lesson Outline
Lesson 4 Electromagnetism – We learned about the relationship between electricity and magnetism. We explored the interaction between electric charges and magnets. We investigated how electric currents generate magnetic fields and how magnetic fields can be used to generate electric current through the exertion of forces at a distance.

Unit 2 Module 3 Electromagnetic Forces
Lesson Outline
We completed several hands-on projects where we built series circuit connections. We explored conductive materials and basic electronics concepts. We constructed closed loop paths for electricity to flow. We used batteries for a power source and wires for conductors.
