Working on a PSA screenplay. We covered session 2 of screenwriting - picking the subject(what is your story about), Structure? (what your script should look like).
Devin and I went over the work he completed last week with the substitute. We correct his work and reviewed past participles. He wrote down how to conjugate the verb "Caer" in his journal as past participles with the different pronouns.

Ashley was absent today. Devin was focused today and concentrated on the questions I asked him in order to help him fix the mistakes he had made on his assignment. Good day.
Reviewed the vocabulary we did yesterday by plcing the Bell Work activity from pgs. 166 and 170 on the board and had students fill in the sentences as a review. Devin struggled a bit so he was asked to write out a list of the verbs he needs to review. then the students had to place activities that describe a typical morning routine in order. In class, students completed pg 82 from the workbook assessment as a graded assignment.

Great lesson with Ashley and Devin. (Sadie was absent). Both students had completed proposals and were approved.

The students enjoyed magazine review.
Students take and 4 paragraphs and "translate" them into "real" English. they work alone for 40 minutes and then get feedback for last 15. Mistakes in method were discovered: students needed to look up lots of words in the dictionary and they hadn't.

Do the last two over again, making sure that you look up ALL words you aren't sure about.

Sadie was absent. I explained the purpose to them, and I think they understand why we are doing something that seems impossible to them. I want them to understand that they are capable of understanding poe.
Read through Fall of the House of Usher paragraph by paragraph, deciphering meaning. It is difficult for all 3 of the students (as it is for me!) so I am trying to show them that YES we CAN decipher difficult text even if it is diificult.
Identify particularly hard passages and translate them into "our" English.
