We continued to search the NY Times best seller list for an end of the year book. Sophia made the dinstinction between fiction and non-fiction. We finally settled on Hilary Mantel's Bringing Up the Bodies and started reading.

Sophia did 5 image diagrams and the images came out very close to actual. Determined the focal length of a lens by focusing on a distant object and moving the lens until an inverted small image formed and then measure the distance from lens to eye.

A quiz on wave phenomena and types was first. Sophia did well
The demos worked well and all the objectives were met. Sophia then viewed a short video to reinforce the function of the different lenses and the main parts.
She hadn't done her homework, which was to draw a political cartoon. She took 15 minutes to do that in class, lost 10 points, and received an 85%. Then, she looked at Hebrew writing and analyzed why this might invoke suspicion back in the 1880s by the U.S., Protestant majority. She contrasted these attitudes with those of today. Then, outlined the "old immigration" of the 1840s.
