Sophia was late today by about 10 minutes. This has been an issue during every Friday morning, when I am her first class. Please discuss ways to rectify this, as she loses a percentage point for each minute late/talking on the phone/or other disruption. Other than that, I was very proud of her on her test. Her writing has improved by leaps and bounds and is very coherent and makes sense. Great job!

Sophia was not on time for class. And not only did she not bring her Indonesian assignment, but she forgot the article at home too. This cost us about 20 minutes of class time, as she had to go find the article again, read it, and summarize it. Her summary though was quite thorough and well done. Her visual rendering of a historical labor strike was very well detailed and reflected accurately the relative powerlessness that these unions felt.

Fun session today. We took some of the songs we have learned and played them with Shihan Albert on drums and guitar to add another layer of music and to create a band dynamic. Reacting to other musicians while playing is an important skill for any instrumentalist. Sophia said she would like to learn Tiny Dancer by Elton John, so we spent some time figuring out the key and chords used in the song. We will spend some time over the next few weeks learning the melody lines and applying some finger picking techniques to playing it.
