Today we went over the days of the week by answering ¿Que dia es hoy? We learned what happens with names and last names in Spanish speaking countries. In addition, we read a short presentation on a boy called Christian. Jackson did a similar one about himself and drew and colored himself. We gave the paragraph to Ms. Kelly to be published in the next issue of the school newspaper.

We looked at a clip from a Vice video about El Chapa Guzman. Then, we discussed possible presentation formats for Jackson's Haiti project. Jackson decided to use iMovie. I showed him two examples of student's work that I have saved. I wanted Jackson to use the movie as a model to help him complete his work.

"Flowers for Algernon" short story
Lesson Outline
Jackson wrote three sentences using the vocabulary from the story. He also wrote a thoughtful answer to a question about whether Charlie is better off with the operation. He then continued to read the story, and we discussed how now the narration is both first-person and third-person as Charlie recalls his past.

Jackson does a wonderful job redesigning his mini derby car profile by research on the internet. Axle holes are carefully measured and drilled. New profile is cut out and traced on wood. Shaping is begun by using a file. Excellent session.
