Jackson continued research related to his project about Haiti. I want Jackson to begin organizing and citing his research material in a logical and sequential way that will also translate and apply to his finished product.
Starting a short story. We brainstormed words and expressions that might help us frame a possible story. Some examples are: (For type of story) Horror, adventure, holiday, detective, etc. (For characters) Boys, girls, adults. We then moved to filling in a brief outline of the story's beginning, "muddle," and end. Finally, we started writing the story.

Jackson is quite creative and adventurous! He jumped right into writing a fish story about two boys and got off to an excellent start in putting ideas on paper.
Jackson selects a mini derby car for his next project. He makes a profile drawing of actual body style. Wood is selected and cut to length. Great Session
Today we went over the family tree vocabulary and did an exercise making sure to pay attention to ending vowels -o for males and -a for females. Also, we learned the days of the week vocabulary, sang a song, and played memory. He did great after that! In addition we created a craft which will help us tell which day it is every day.
He multiplied binomials that create a Difference of Squares (the goal is for him to start to recognize these special products). He did several practice problems.
We did an example using the concept of Conservation of Energy. We did calculations involving his water bottle sitting on the desk versus sitting on a high shelf. We calculated the potential energy in the bottle as it sits, then how fast its speed is as it hits the ground (all potential energy is converted into kinetic energy at this point).
Jackson began class by looking up and writing the definitions for words associated with the story. We talked about the main characters so far and their relationships to each other. Jackson then continued reading the story and has reached the point where Charlie has had the operation and is waiting to become smarter.
Jackson and I worked on his punting today. We talked about the correct footwork and how to hold the ball. We also talked about using the outside of the foot to kick. This will help make the ball spiral.
Jackson and I played football today. We worked on his route running and catching. When he was running routes I wanted him to focus on not slowing down while making his cut. When he was catching the ball, I wanted him to focus on watching the ball all the way into his tuck. We also worked on catching the ball at its highest point.
design fundamentals. Jackson is currently working on his "mosaic" soup bean project. He finished it today. He is also working on a new painting of cypress trees, in the Everglades.
