Ally was great. She was a little slow in figuring out what they were asking for on the function questions, but once she figured it out (3rd, 4th warmup problem), she was able to answer hard questions. I gave her the hint to use the radii as the key to unlocking the secrets, and she answered the hard circle questions easily. She completed the timed section getting 15/16 correct. She should score at minimum 600 on the math SAT. I expect her to be closer to 700 with the outside shot at a perfect 800.

Ally did very well with the warm up problems, grasped and saw the usefulness of the techniques. We did a 25 minute, 20 question section. She answered 18/20 correct. Her raw score was a 17.5. She did an excellent job.
Ally did a good job answering the warm up and geometry problems correctly. She learned techniques and tips for gridding in her answers (no negative #, start on the left, no mixed #, do not round decimals). Then she completed the timed section. She did not do as well as she did on Sunday. I think the fact that she went through an entire school day, then had an intense college counseling meeting, she was worn out. While her performance would still be desirable by most standards, it was definitely not her best. It was not a lack of effort or care. She was simply drained at this point in the day (5:30 pm). We reviewed the problems where she had difficulties then some tips for saturday to close.
Review test content and procedures. Introduce ratios as recipes; ratio box. practice ratio problems.
Review plugging in for variables and PITA (plugging in the answers).

Ally picked up the ratio box very quickly and liked how it helped her on ratio problems. She vaguely remembered the plugging so it was good for us to review in more detail. She did a20 minute, 16 question timed section. She answered 12 correct, left 2 blank, and answered 2 incorrectly; raw score 11.5.
We went over a couple of special kinds of problems that the SAT likes to continue to put on the test. Arithmetic means, ratios, arrangement and special triangles were some of the problems we looked at.
Ally did a great job this week and worked very hard. She definitely improved as we progressed and I think the strategies we covered will work very well for her.

Ally completed the HW assigned to her. She answered 6 of 8 hw problems correctly.
We reviewed the incorrect answers from hw. Then introduced geometry concepts of ball parking based on picture. We did practice problems on solving for angles and parallel lines.
I reviewed special right triangles that are ets favorites. Ally then did 3 practice problems involving these triangles.
Lastly we reviewed problems from her practice test. Interestingly enough, the first problem involved a special right triangle and Ally immediately saw the connection.
