Ashley did very well with subject verb agreement but is still having trouble identifying the different parts of speech. She still relies too much on what "sounds right". Sure, that will help her get some of the questions right, but ultimately, she'll miss more than she'll get. She has committed to memorizing the different parts of speech this weekend. We'll see how it goes.
Ashely did not have her homework today as she left it at school yesterday. So I had her do it in class and was very disappointed in the results. Again, she's making easy mistakes that are a result of nothing more than focus and effort. I know for a fact that she can identify the subject and verb of a sentence, and yet she made that mistake at least five times. So we spent the rest of the class reviewing the different parts of speech.
Ashley completed her homework for today and did a pretty good job on it. As we reviewed for the chapter test, it was clear that she understood tense and voice very well, but is having a lot of difficulty with the six difficult verbs. We did more practice exercises in class and she definitely improved. We'll see how she does on the test.
