Lesson Topic
Law of cosines
Lesson Outline
In this session, Will solved oblique triangles that had information SSS and SAS by using the Law of Cosines. These problems sometimes used both Law of Cosines and Law of Sines.

Oblique triangles
Lesson Outline
We worked on Oblique triangles that were determined by ASA and AAS. These triangles required the use of Law of Sines. The use of this rule uses the trig functions and inverse trig functions.

Review of composite functions and inverse functions. Practice Test.
Lesson Outline
I finished the extra review problems with Will. We then began working on my practice test on rational exponents and radical equations. There were problems in simplifying radical expressions and rational roots and on adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing radical expressions. There was no assignment.

Media Literacy
Lesson Outline
Today, we started a unit on media literacy. This is the focus of a class he will be taking at Lynn University next year, and my goal is to give him the background knowledge he needs for future success. We began the unit with a discussion of the importance of being an educated consumer when it comes to media. Next, Will brainstormed the variety of media that we engage in every day. We also discussed the changes in media from print focused to digital. Then, Will took notes on the core concepts and questions of media literacy. The core concepts and concept questions guide a student to understand the purposes and uses of media in today’s society. For homework, Will was assigned to read an article, “What is Media in the Digital Age?”. He is going to read it once for the “gist” and the second time to underline central ideas for discussion at our next class. He did an awesome job today and was very engaged in our discussion.

Awesome class today - Will was super interested in this topic.

Lesson Topic
Review of rational exponents and radical equations
Lesson Outline
I reviewed with Will over the topics of simplifying expressions with rational exponents raised to integer powers. With a small amount of explanation, he was able to perform that operation correctly. I then worked on solving radical equations and he needed more help to recall the steps involved. I also helped him remember the quadratic formula which he needed to solve one of the equations. I also reminded him how to check for extraneous answers. There was no assignment.

Lesson Comments
Due to the Spring Break and a long additional time between classes, Will had a difficult time recalling some of the information he learned before the break. Some students should not be given schedules where they only work on math or science twice per week.

Additional review of rational exponents and radical equations
Lesson Outline
Will and I continued to review Problems requiring addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and simplification of radical expressions. The problems included a wide variety of roots, including square, cube, and fourth roots. After the Spring Break, I will be giving Will my practice test to be used when he takes my real test.
There was no assignment.

Lesson Comments
Extra review was necessary by the fact that so many days pass between Friday of this week and Thursday following the break. Will tends to have trouble retrieving information he has acquired. This reinforcement is the best aid I can use to combat that tendency.

Chapter Test on rational exponents and radical equations
Lesson Outline
I continued to review rational exponents and radical equations with Will today. I reminded him how to find the composition of two functions. We first used only functions and then substituted values of the independent variables. After we finished with composition of functions, I reviewed the process of finding inverse functions. There was no assignment.

Photo Assignment -
Will was assigned to take photos of the talent show. He and I discussed the proper exposure, aperture and speed for the event and what camera angles he felt were suitable. He photographed some actors backstage, and then photographically recorded the different acts from the audience point of view. Homework: download, rename, and edit the talent show photos.
