Maya is flying through topic 5. She knows most of her facts at this point so it has been extremely useful. She can correctly express the multiplication properties she's learned. I'm so proud of her eagerness to forge ahead in this topic. Today she worked with factors 0 and 1 and 3. She also solved two step problems with some support. We will continue to practice word problems to improve this skill. She is required to determine which operations she must use. Maya did well in her FF program today.

Maya was introduced to the 7 times tables. She watched a brief video. We wrote them down to see that she only needs to learn 3 new facts. We created easy ways to remember these. She did great! Maya learned how to see patterns and determine if they are increasing or decreasing to solve the next number in a pattern. She also practiced using factors 2 and 5. Maya continued her FF program. In LB, Maya completed an activity regarding the last story. She needed some reminding to stay focused. It was the end of the day and I think she was very tired. She was able to complete the activity.

big decision: pros/cons
Lesson Outline
Maya and I continued reading Ch. 4 in her social studies book regarding immigration. We discussed making big decisions and the benefits and costs attached to the decision. I modeled an example of moving to Hobe Sound from Jupiter. Maya made the connection to her parents moving from a small apartment in Philadelphia to a larger home in Florida to be able to have a family. She also made connections with deciding if her family should go on different vacations or not. Great job!
