We reviewed, then finished up the chapter with evaluation of functions with two variables. We worked through the practice module, and I recommended he work through it again on his own. I also suggested that he go back through all of the modules we have covered as time allows. He should also print out the Quick Reference Guides provided at the end of each chapter in the Math Mavericks course.
We also looked at his syllabus for the math course he will be taking this fall, and confirmed that we had covered all of the topics listed.
Assignment
Review, Print out Quick Reference Guides for each chapter
We reviewed infinite geometric summation, then reviewed evaluation of a function at a constant value. Next, we learned how to evaluate a function by plugging in another algebraic expression, such as "t+2". Afterward, we began Practice #2: Domain of a Function.
We reviewed the previous sections as Michael had experienced difficulty with the practice assignment. We also started on Geometric Summation. Next time we will review this and cover infinite Geometric Summation.

Lesson Comments
Michael is really struggling with summation. He can do it as long as he has just seen me do it, and I am there to coach him, but on his own seems to be confused. We are spending a lot of time here because summation of sequences is truly a tough but necessary concept which also allows for built in practice of other basic skills.
We began with a review of the last module we covered yesterday on quadratic summation, then we worked the following practice module which combined simple quadratic summation with coefficients and quantity sums. We also started geometric summations. We practiced the finite sums, and tomorrow will pick up with infinite geometric summations.
We reviewed and expanded upon combined summations including arithmetic with coefficients and constant summations of the form b+ci. We also completed the next module on Quadratic Summations.
